Boybands to headline Tower Festival
The Wanted and McFly are to headline an exclusive dual-headline concert on Blackpool’s brand new Tower Festival Headland on Sunday 24th June. The concert, which brings together two of the country’s biggest boybands at the UK’s newest open air venue, is presented by promoters Cuffe & Taylor in association with Marketing Blackpool.
The Wanted and McFly are two of Britain’s most popular bands, with certified gold and double platinum albums respectively. McFly have recently hit the headlines again after members Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd both won reality TV contests in 2011, I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and Strictly Come Dancing. Harry Judd will return to Blackpool after winning the show’s final at Blackpool Tower Ballroom. The Wanted have been enjoying great chart success and have recently been touring in America. They embark on their first sold out UK Arena tour next month.
Event organisers Cuffe & Taylor, already known in the area for hosting the popular Lytham Proms Festival Weekend, will be working alongside Marketing Blackpool. The new venture will see Blackpool welcome some of music’s most popular acts to the Tower Festival Headland.
The event coincides with the arrival of the Olympic Torch in Blackpool on Friday 22nd June. Following the arrival of the Olympic Torch, an Evening Celebration will take place on the Tower Festival Headland.
A spokesperson for event organisers Cuffe & Taylor said: “We are thrilled to be hosting music concerts in the heart of Blackpool. We are a local company and can’t wait to be part of this exciting venture working with Marketing Blackpool. The Wanted and McFly are hugely popular and to have them both headlining at the same concert will be a great day.”
